Our family loves popsicles whether it’s summer or not. The type that push up like this are especially nice, as they minimize the mess from melting popsicles on sticks. Some of the drawbacks to buying them all year include that they can get expensive, and you’re limited to the store or brand’s flavors and ingredients. Now we’re so excited to be able to make our own with this set of 6 popsicle molds from Rednolia!

This product’s quality is impressive. The silicone is thick enough to keep its form, but it is still easy to squeeze. One of the things that I especially appreciate is that the lids are attached to the base, but they stay out of the way when you’re eating from them. You won’t lose these lids!

I was concerned about leaks, but so far these have been leak-free. I started by filling one with water, putting on the cap, and shaking it upside down. I even loosened the lid’s seal a bit, and still no water came out! I’m impressed.

Our toddler loves yogurt, and she is especially a fan of “GoGurt”, which can also get costly and be limited to their flavors and contents. Now we can get a larger container of yogurt, pour some in one of these molds, and give her a similar “do it myself” experience.

Having 6 different colors helps distinguish if you have different flavors in the freezer. It also helps people to remember whose is whose if a couple people seal them up and set them down.

This is a great set with lots of possibilities!

Review of Silicone Cooking and Grilling Gloves by Que Heads

This pair of silicone gloves by Que Heads has helped me feel a lot more comfortable in the kitchen. Not only do they shield my hands from the heat, they also help my grip. While I’m wearing them, I’m more in control of what I’m doing. They really help save my hands, and they will be especially helpful with all the cooking and baking for the holidays.

The outer texture is formed by a pattern of little hearts. This pattern is effective, and they still look gender neutral because of the black color and subtlety of the hearts (which look more like dots or triangles from any distance). Since both sides have the same texture, each glove is ambidextrous. While I’ve seen a lot of options for silicone cooking and grilling gloves like this in red, I like that this set comes in black for the people in my life who want to be a bit less conspicuous.

The inside texture is comfortable. It seems to have an additional layer for added protection between the thumb and first finger, which I appreciate. The glove design (instead of the traditional mitt) gives a lot more control. In addition to daily use, one project that comes to mind as a great use for these is making jam since they can be used around both water and heat for canning and cleaning, and they have a good grip.

We’re impressed by how well they fit different hand sizes. My hands are really small (e.g., Size Extra Small or Small medical gloves), and while there’s a bit of space at the fingertips, these still fit comfortably. Another cook in our kitchen has average sized hands (e.g., Size Medium or Large medical gloves), and they’re also comfortable for her. We’re both able to bend our fingers and move our hands effectively while wearing them.

In addition to their obvious use, you can also use them to help grip jars to loosen lids, or you can save your table by using them like trivets. They both have a small hole at the top so you can hang them up while not in use, although if you’re like us, you’ll be using them a lot!

Review of Stainless Steel Salt and Pepper Grinder Set

This is a high quality stainless steel salt and pepper grinder set that is very useful in our kitchen! We like to use Pink Himalayan Salt, but it needs to be ground for use. This salt grinder is the best we have used. It’s so nice, because you can adjust how coarse or fine you want it to be. You adjust this with the knob in the middle of the area under the cap. It’s a bit difficult to see, but there are dots of increasing size on that center black knob. Turn it toward the bigger dots (counter-clockwise) for a coarser grind, and turn it toward the smaller dots (clockwise) for a finer grind. This grinder is able to grind the finest of all the similar products we’ve tried. This provides more even seasoning throughout a dish.

The combination of glass and stainless steel provides a great look for the kitchen and the dining table. Since the product is visible in the glass area, it’s easy to see what you’re using and how much is remaining. The components are easy to grip and use, including for people who have grasp difficulties with other objects.

Review of Large Ice Cube Mold

Mmm… There’s nothing like iced tea on a hot day. With all the distractions that come with raising a toddler, I find that it takes me awhile to finish that iced tea. Regular ice cubes water it down as they melt. What if there was an ice cube that had less surface area and didn’t melt as fast… As I found out by trying a product for free or a heavily discounted price in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion, there is!

20150811_160036This silicone mold by Pratico makes 4 ice cubes that are 2.25 inch cubes. They’re actually so big that we had a hard time finding a glass large enough to fit one! I ended up using a large mug, as seen in the photo.

Yes, I hear they’re usually for drinks that are alcoholic in nature. Those of us who don’t drink alcohol should be able to enjoy cold drinks too, and we shouldn’t have to deal with a watered-down dilemma. I say use them for the non-alcoholic drink of your choice. Or as Jell-O molds. Or to freeze juice and make popsicles. Or whatever your heart desires.

Also, I am so done with trying to get ice cubes out of their traditional hard plastic trays. It’s like pulling teeth. Cold teeth. Since this mold is silicone, you can give your ice cube a boost with a little push and a wiggle, and out it comes!

Review of Stainless Steel Cups from Pratico Goods

Our toddler thinks she’s a grown-up. She wants to be a grown-up and do everything herself, even if she isn’t quite sure how. This leads to spills on a daily basis, but she really is a quick learner. Right now she’s learning how to drink from a regular cup, so the opportunity to try stainless steel cups for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion was great!

Before thes20150818_190908_Richtone(HDR)e cups, our choices consisted of plastic cups of many shapes and sizes (usually to be used with some sort of top), ceramic mugs, and glasses. Even when we’re helping her with the ceramic mugs and glasses, I usually notice I’m holding my breath at some time in the process. I don’t mind a little water or juice spill, but I don’t want something to fall and break, especially when we’re often barefoot in the house. Gadget is observant and knows what we use. She wants to be like us, which I treasure, especially realizing that someday she will be a teenager who may not want anything to do with me.

The stainless steel cups by Pratico are great! The adults love them, and since the adults love them, Gadget loves them. We can feel a bit more at ease knowing that accidentally bumping one off the table won’t result in a shattered glass. They’re durable and they look nice. That’s one thing I noticed when we opened the box. They’re so shiny!

They’re amazing for a glass of ice cold water, too. The glass gets chilled, so it’s colder to the touch than a glass. So nice, especially on hot days!

Being so durable, they would also be great on a picnic or camping trip. The two stack together, so they could be tossed into a bag pretty easily.

Review of Reflective Ankle Bands

From the company that gave me the wristbands, I also received a pair of BlazeBand Reflective Ankle Bands for free in exchange for an honest review. One of the bands in the first pair I received had a frayed end, which surprised me since I was already familiar with the company’s high quality. I wrote to Jeff at ATOPIO and sent a photo of the problem, and he responded at lightning speed. He sent an email apologizing and confirming that isn’t their usual quality. He sent a replacement pair, and I had them very quickly. They were the great quality I had come to expect (see photo). The Velcro at each end is sewn around its edges, and it seems very secure. The band is slightly stretchy: not enough to slide off, but just enough to allow for comfort. The Velcro closure is simple and allows you to put them on, adjust them as needed, and take them off quickly and easily. The Velcro closure also allows some flexibility for length. These fit both smaller and larger ankles, and you can wear them with shorts or over pant legs. Since they form a loop, you could also stick these on a purse/bag handle, stroller, bike, etc.

Quality and durability!

I really like that they are visible both from their bright yellow color and their reflective band. I used a light to see them in the dark bathroom (why do we always go in the bathroom when we need a dark place?), and they reflected really well! This is a great product to help you and your family to be seen and safe, especially as we’re outdoors so much during the summer.

What’s the difference between the ankle bands and the wrist bands? Length. The ankle bands are a bit longer, as you’d expect.

This is a quality product from a quality-driven company, and I recommend them. Check them out and get some for yourself and your family here.

Review of “BlazeBands” Reflective Wristbands (Pair)

We just received a pair of reflective wristbands called “BlazeBands” by ATOPIO. Now that our little one is a toddler, we’re out and about more… and we’re more conscientious about safety than ever before. These wristbands are a great option to help increase our visibility and therefore our safety.

Nice and bright!
Nice and bright!

The customer service was excellent. Jeff and ATOPIO made sure we received our product safely and quickly.

The wristbands seem to have been constructed very well. They have slight elasticity. The Velcro is sewn around its edges.

This product’s design lends itself to versatility and comfort. The Velcro closure allows the user to adjust the size and tightness to some degree. They fit on adult wrists (as advertised), and they also fit on the arm of a toddler wearing a fleece jacket! These could also easily be attached to a stroller, bike, etc.
